67th BPSC Booklist and Exam Strategy

Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is the organization responsible for conducting the recruitment process of State Service Officers through Competitive Examinations (BPSC Exams) and interviews to the services of various departments of the Government of Bihar. BPSC recruits officers for the State Civil Service through the BPSC Common Combined Competitive Examination.

Before embarking upon the process for preparation for the BPSC exam, we need to understand the pattern of questions that are asked in the examination. The nature of questions that are asked in the BPSC Common Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination is quite distinct from the UPSC Civil Services Examination. The pattern of examination is also different, both in the Preliminary and Mains stages. The Preliminary stage consists of just one General Studies paper. For the Mains stage, BPSC had changed the pattern only last year and will have papers of:

  • General Hindi (Qualifying)
  • General Studies - I
  • General Studies - II
  • Optional Paper

This is followed by a Personality Test for the final selection of a candidate. Check detailed BPSC Exam Pattern and download the BPSC Syllabus pdf.

Preliminary Paper consists of 150 questions with each question having 5 options including None of Above or More than one of the Above being a common option. There is no negative marking but requires a high degree of accuracy from the aspirant. The questions are covered from diverse fields like Current Affairs of State, National and International importance, History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Sports, Authors and Awards, Aptitude and General Science. The questions are mostly factual hence requires repeated revisions to choose the options correctly in the examination.

You can check all the relevant books that need to be referred for preparation of BPSC Common Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination. Aspirants need to focus on areas that cover most questions to maximize their scores as the cutoff goes high for the examination. The aspirant only needs to qualify the Preliminary examination to appear for the Mains examination. The marks of the Preliminary exam will not be accounted for the final selection.

BPSC Current Affairs Book

Current Affairs has always been one of the favourite sections in most of the State PSC exams. Aspirants also need to be in touch with State news along with National and international news. They should keep their eyes open for grasping the facts that can be asked in the exam. Notes should be regularly made for quick revision. Current Affairs of the previous year from the date of the exam should be given special attention.
