What is the Centrifugal Tension in Belt?

Centrifugal tension in the belt is responsible for its movement as it lifts the belt from the pulley due to the centrifugal effect. It depends on the velocity of the belt and is independent of the tight and slack side tensions.

Answer: The tension caused in a moving belt due to centrifugal force is called centrifugal tension.

It is an inertial force that acts on all objects when it is rotated. It acts outwardly away from the center of rotation. The example of centrifugal force is the spin cycle of a washing machine. On the other hand, the force that points towards the center of a circle or a rotating object is called Centripetal force. It always keeps the object moving in a circular direction.

Both Centrifugal force and Centripetal force are the same force but in opposite directions.
