The equation that describes the mass of liquid flowing out equals the mass flow in a streamline flow of incompressible fluids is called equation of continuity. The path of a fluid particle under a steady flow is known as streamline.

Answer: Equation of Continuity is based on the principle of conservation of mass.

No two streamlines can cross each other. If they do so then an oncoming fluid particle can go either one way or the other and the flow would not be steady. Thus, in a steady flow, the flow is stationary in time. The equation of continuity is a statement of conservation of mass in flow. The flow rate or volume flux remains constant throughout the pipe of flow.

The velocity increases at narrower portions where the streamlines are closely spaced. On the other hand, the velocity decreases at the broader portions where the streamlines are distant. The fluid is accelerated while passing from one point to another. It is related to the change in pressure in fluid flow in horizontal pipes.

Summary:

Equation of Continuity is based on the principle of conservation of ________.

Out of the given options, the correct answer is mass.
