Spirogyra is not Unicellular. Spirogyra is a filamentous charophyte green alga of Zygnematales order that goes by the popular names mermaid's tresses, water silk, and blanket weed. It gets its name from the spiral or helical arrangement of the chloroplasts that distinguishes the genus.

Why Is Spirogyra Not A Unicellular? 

There are more than 400 different species of Spirogyra in the world, and they are typically found in freshwater settings. Spirogyra can reach a length of several centimeters and a breadth of roughly 10 to 100 m.
