Army Officers are recruited through NCC Special Entry, which allows NCC cadets to try their luck in the army.
Why in news?
The Indian Army has released the NCC Special Entry Scheme 2021 Notification for selection into the 50th NCC Special Entry Scheme Oct 2021 (Men & Women) Course, which comprises Wards of Battle Casualties of Army Personnel vacancies, and invites online applications from Male and Female applicants, as well as Wards of Battle Casualties of Army Personnel, for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Indian Army for a period of one year.

Total Posts released are 55.
- 50th NCC Special Entry (Men): There will be 50 Posts for Men out of which 45 for the General Category & 05 for the Wards of Battle Casualties.
- 50th NCC Special Entry Scheme (Women): There will be 5 Posts out of which 04 for General Category & 01 for Wards of Battle Casualties.

- Military Service Pay (MSP): MSP to the officers from the rank of Lt to Brig INR 15,500/- p.m. fixed.
- Fixed Stipend for the Cadet Training Stipend to Gentlemen/Lady Cadets during the complete duration of training in Service Academies i.e. during the training period at OTA.
Indian Army NCC Special Entry Selection Process
- The candidates will apply online on the joinindianarmy.nic.in, the official website of the Indian Army. The applications will be shortlisted according to the eligibility criteria. All the eligible candidates will be asked to choose their preferred interview dates on the online portal itself.
Note: The selection centres are auto allotted, the candidates just have the privilege of choosing the date.
- SSB Interview: Only qualified applicants who have been shortlisted will be interviewed at Selection Centres which are in Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore and Kapurthala.
- Candidates will go through a two-stage screening process during the 5 days of the SSB interview. Those who pass Stage-I advance to Stage-II. Those who do not pass stage-I will be asked to leave the selection centre the same day. The SSB interview lasts five days
- Stage-I: On the first day, the Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test and the Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT) will be conducted.
- Stage-II: Candidates who passed Stage I will be required to take Stage II tests, which are psychological testing, Ground Tasks, Personal interview & Conference.
- Final Selections: Candidates who pass Stage-II will be chosen at the end of the process based on a Special Medical Examination. Candidates will be eligible for training if they have passed both phases and have been determined to be medically fit.
- On the basis of merit, candidates who pass the medical exam will be awarded a joining letter.
