The advantage of terrestrial organism over aquatic with respect to getting oxygen for the process of respiration is, the oxygen in air is 21% when compared to that in water.
Terrestrial organisms:
- Organisms that live on land are referred to as terrestrial animals.
- Terrestrial animals obtain their oxygen through atmospheric oxygen in order to breathe.
Table of content
Advantages for Terrestrial Animals Over Aquatic Animals
- Air has 21% more oxygen than oxygen in water.
- They are less oxygen-available because water has less than or equal to 1% oxygen.
- The breathing rate of organisms is also impacted by this lower oxygen concentration.
- Animals that live in water breathe more quickly than those that do not.
- This is because land animals have access to a higher concentration of oxygen than watery animals do.
- In order to breathe oxygen, a terrestrial species has an advantage over an aquatic animal.
Example of terrestrial animals –
- Elephants are native to tropical climates.
- They possess a few adaptation qualities that enable them to endure in a hot environment:
- Elephants’ large ears aid in keeping them cool.
- Elephants are enormous creatures that generate a lot of heat. Elephants’ large ears aid in keeping them cool.
- Elephants’ ears enable them to communicate and hear across great distances.
Summary:-
What Advantage Over an Aquatic Organism Does a Terrestrial Organism Have With Regard to Obtaining Oxygen for Respiration?
When obtaining oxygen for the process of respiration, terrestrial organisms have an advantage over aquatic ones since air contains 21% more oxygen than water. The example of terrestrial animal is elephant which has big ears which keeps them cool.
