UPSC conducts the Civil Services Examination to fill the vacancies for 24 civil services posts which include All India Services like IAS, IPS, and IFoS. Candidates preparing for the UPSC CSE 2023 must keep the UPSC CSE Vacancy 2023 in their minds. In 2023, the total number of UPSC Vacancies is 1105. Huge Increase in the UPSC Vacancy 2023
In comparison to the previous years, the UPSC CSE 2023 Vacancy has seen a big jump. In 2021 the UPSC vacancies were only 712, and in 2023 the vacancy was 1011, and in 2023 the total number of vacancies is 1105. Below we have provided the UPSC vacancies for the last 5 years.

The UPSC UPSC 2023 Vacancy List can increase as well. The final vacancies can be more than the reported vacancies, and by the time final results are published after a 1-year long exam cycle, the vacancies can increase further. It happened in the year 2020, as initially, the vacancy was 796, but it increased to 836 after the declaration of final results.
Stages to Fill UPSC Vacancy 2023
Every year, UPSC conducts Civil Services Exam to fill the vacancies. This exam includes three stages: UPSC Prelims, UPSC Mains, and Personality Test. One must clear all three stages of the exam to be recruited for the UPSC Civil Services Posts.
- UPSC Prelims- This is the first stage of UPSC CSE. UPSC Prelims 2023 will be conducted on 28th May 2023, and the results will be declared a few weeks after the exam.
- UPSC Mains- the second stage of UPSC CSE is called UPSC Mains. Candidates who clear the UPSC Prelims are only eligible for this round.
- UPSC Personality Test- is the final stage of the UPSC exam, and those who clear UPSC Mains can appear for the Personality test.
After clearing all three stages of the UPSC, Exam candidates will have to go through the training period. After completing the training period, candidates will be recruited for various civil services posts.

The UPSC vacancies have seen a massive drop from 1014 onwards. However, as per government data, there is a shortage of IAS and IPS officers in India. With the shortage of qualified people, the government machinery can’t run effectively.
UPSC 2023 Vacancy List Notification
Union Public Service Commission releases the UPSC vacancy notification every year before the commencement of the Civil Services Examination. However, the post-wise and category-wise breakup in UPSC vacancies is declared only after the exam. The vacancy may increase as per the requirement. For the year 2023, UPSC has declared 1105 vacancies, and detailed vacancy data will be released by UPSC.
