Indian Navy SSR AA selection process is determined by the officials of the Indian Navy. Candidates who wish to pursue their dreams in the Indian Navy have to crack all the different stages of the selection procedure.

Indian Navy Selection Process for SSR and AA is released under the official notification. The Indian Navy SSR AA 2022 exam is tentatively scheduled to be held in November 2022. Candidates qualifying for the written examination will then be called for the next round of selection.

Indian Navy SSR AA Selection Procedure 2022

The Selection criteria for the Indian Navy SSR AA Exam are as follows: -

  • AA-Selection of recruits is based on the all India order of merit on their performance in Computer-based Examination, subject to qualifying Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in Medical Examinations.
  • SSR-Selection of recruits is based on State-wise merit of their performance in Computer-based Examinations, subject to qualifying Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in Medical exams.
  • Preliminary Medical Examination for recruitment will be considered only “Provisionally fit subject to fitness in the final medical examination”. Final Enrolment Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be held at INS Chilka. Candidates who are found medically fit in the Final Enrolment Medical Examination will be enrolled. 

Indian Navy SSR AA Selection Stages

Indian Navy SSR AA Selection Process 2022 involves three different stages which are as follows:

  1. Written Test
  2. Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
  3. Medical Standards

Indian Navy SSR AA Written Test - Stage 1

The initial stage of the Indian Navy AA and SSR selection procedure is based on the online written examination. Candidates need to crack the Indian Navy cut-off for the written examination in order to qualify for the next stage of selection which is only qualifying in nature. The Indian Navy online written exam will be conducted based on the following factors: -

  • Total number of questions - 100
  • Total marks allotted - 100
  • Total duration - 1 hour
  • Subjects - Science, Mathematics, English, General Awareness

Indian Navy SSR AA Physical Fitness Test - Stage 2

The second stage of the selection is of qualifying in physical standards. Below we have described the Indian Navy physical standards to be accomplished by the candidate in order to get selected for the next round of selection.

(a) Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is mandatory for selection.

(b) PFT will consist of the following factors:

  • 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes
  • 20 squats (Uthak Baithak)
  • 10 Push-ups

Indian Navy SSR AA Medical Standards - Stage 3

Indian Navy medical standards for SSR and AA posts are as follows: -

  • Better Eye 6/6; Worse Eye 6/9; With Glasses: Better Eye 6/6; Worse Eye 6/6
  • Minimum height 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum chest expansion of 5 cms.
  • Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on the inner face of forearms, i.e. from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reversed side of palm/ back (dorsal) side of the hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and the candidate will be barred from recruitment.  
  • Medical examination will be conducted by authorized military doctors as per medical standards prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.
  • The candidate should be in good physical and mental health, free from any defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties.
  • Candidates who are found medically unfit will be advised to appeal against its findings, if they desire to do so, at INHS Kalyani, Visakhapatnam within a maximum period of 21 days.

Note:- Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax, and tartar removed from teeth prior to enrolment medical examination.

Indian Navy SSR AA Final Merit List 2022

The final merit list for Indian Navy AA and SSR will be prepared based on performance in the written examination subject to qualifying Physical Fitness Test (PFT), as follows:-

(a) AA- Top 600 candidates (approx.) on all India order of merit, who meet the eligibility criteria for AA will be issued a call letter for final enrolment medical examination at INS Chilka.

(b) SSR- Approximately 2500 candidates will be issued a call letter for the final enrolment medical examination at INS Chilka on the basis of state-wise merit.

    The candidates have to solve 100 questions carrying 100 marks in the defined time span of 1 hour. The questions will be asked from various subjects such as Science, Mathematics, English, and General Awareness. The shortlisted candidates will proceed to the next level of the Indian Navy SSR AA selection process, to pass the physical standard test. The third stage of the Indian Navy AA selection process screens the candidates on the basis of the prescribes medical standards. The candidates need to fit the defined medical standards to be considered eligible for the same. 

  • According to the stipulated Indian Navy SSR AA final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks scored by the candidates in the written exam. They need to qualify for the Physical Fitness Test [PFT] to get recruited for the aspired post. The top 600 candidates in the Indian Navy AA post will be issued a call letter. The 2500 candidates in the SSR post will be issued the admit card for the final enrolment. 

  • No, there is no interview stage in the Indian Navy AA selection process. The candidates aspiring to land the desired job profile will have to pave their way through three stages of the selection process that are written test, physical fitness test, and medical standards. The final merit list will be in accordance with the performance in the written test, however, the candidates need to qualify the physical fitness test to get the call for the final enrolment of medical examination.

The authorized military doctors will be conducting the test, according to the prescribed regulations. To be considered eligible for the Indian Navy SSR medical test, the candidates need to have a better eye of 6/6 and the worst eye can be 6/9, with glasses the better eye will be considered as 6/6 and the worst eye as 6/9. 

    Their minimum height should be 157 cm, and the weight and chest must be in proportion. No permanent tattoos at any other part of the body will be acceptable except on the inner face of the forearms. The candidates must be physically and mentally fit to be able to pursue the responsibilities asscociated with this job profile.
