Eukaryotes contain numerous cells whereas prokaryotes contain a single cell. In eukaryotes, the nuclear membrane surrounds the nucleus whereas in prokaryotes nuclear membrane is absent. The nuclear membrane surrounds the nucleus of eukaryotes. Animals, plants, fungi, and protozoa all have eukaryotic cells.

Difference between Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes

Prokaryotes are mostly single-celled organisms.

Most eukaryotes have more than one cell.

The nucleus is ill-defined because it lacks a nuclear membrane.

The well-defined nucleus is encircled by a nuclear membrane.

There are no plastids, cell organelles, Golgi bodies, or other cell organelles.

Other cellular organelles like plastids, mitochondria, and Golgi bodies are also visible.

A nucleolus is not present.

A nucleolus can be seen.

Example- Bacteria and algae

Example- Animal cells and plant cells.

Eukaryotes are structurally made up of a cell wall that supports and shields the plasma membrane. The plasma membrane, which encircles the cell, regulates the entry and departure of specific chemicals.

Prokaryotes are organisms that are completely encased in a capsule that serves as a protective coat. The pilus, a hair-like attachment found on the outside surface of most prokaryotes, aids the organism in attaching itself to various surroundings, which is essential for preventing the process of phagocytosis (when the bacteria gets consumed by other eukaryotic cells, such as macrophages).

Write the difference between Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes.

Prokaryotes only have one cell, whereas eukaryotes have many cells. The nuclear membrane covers the nucleus in eukaryotes, but it is lacking in prokaryotes. The oldest single-celled organisms on Earth appear to be prokaryotes. Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic prokaryotes that carry out photosynthesis.
