  • Acids include curd and other sour things.
  • Metals and acids react to produce salt and hydrogen gas.
  • The lactic acid in sour foods, like curd, reacts with brass or copper when they are stored in those materials, leading to corrosion and the production of poisonous salts that are indigestible.
  • The acid will react and erode the container if such substances are kept in brass or copper containers.
  • As a result, the food may be spoiled.
