Table of content
Let us use the quadratic formula
x = [-b ± √b2 – 4ac]/ 2a
From the polynomial a = 1, b = 99 and c = 127
Substituting the values
x = [-99 ± √992 – 4(1) (127)]/ 2(1)
x = [-99 ± √(9801 – 508)]/ 2
x = [-99 ± √9293]/2
x = [-99 ± 96.4]/2
Here
x = (-99 + 96.4)/ 2 = -2.6/2 = -1.3
x = (-99 – 96.4)/ 2 = -195.4/ 2 = -97.7
The roots are – 1.3 and -97.7.
So when you are asked, The zeroes of the quadratic polynomial x2 + 99x + 127 are
- both positive
- both negative
- one positive and one negative
- both equal
Then the answer will be that the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial x2 + 99x + 127 are both negative.
Summary:
The zeroes of the quadratic polynomial x2 + 99x + 127 are
The zeroes of the quadratic polynomial x2 + 99x + 127 are both negative.
