If the point (3, 4) lies on the graph of the equation 3y = ax + 7, the value of a is 5/3. A mathematical definition of an equation is a claim that two expressions are equal when they are joined by the equals sign (“=”). Now we have to determine a value:

It is given that 3y = ax + 7 is in linear equation form and (3, 4) satisfies the equation.

Consequently, upon replacing, the above equation will satisfy x = 3 and y = 4

3 (4) = a (3) + 7

On simplifying:

12 = 3a + 7

On rearranging:

3a = 5

therefore:

a = 5/3

### Parts of Equation

Two expressions are combined in an equation using an equal symbol (=). The left-hand side and
ight-hand side of the equation are the two expressions on either side of the equals sign. Typically, we consider an equation’s right side to be zero. Since we can balance this by deducting the right-side expression from both sides’ expressions, this won’t reduce the generality.

Types of Equation

Also, there are different types of equations, such as:

1. Linear equations
3. Cubic equations
4. Quartic equations
5. Differential equations
6. Parametric equations

Hence, the value of a is 5/3

Summary:

## If the point (3, 4) lies on the graph of the equation 3y = ax + 7, Find the value of a.

If the point (3, 4) lies on the graph of the equation 3y = ax + 7, the value of a is 5/3. Two expressions that are combined using the equals sign are referred to as an equation.
