Step II: Using the formula we can calculate as:

v2 = u2 + 2as

Now substituting the values we get

0 = 52 + 2 (-10) x s

20s = 25

s = 25/20

On simplifying we get

s = 1.25 m

Thus, 1.25 meters is the maximum height.

Now, consider

v = u + at

On substituting,

0 = 5 + (-10)t

10t = 5

t = 5/10

On simplifying we get

t = 0.5s

As a result, it takes 0.5 seconds to reach the maximum height.
