A concave mirror produces 3 times magnified real image of an object which is placed at 10 cm in front. The image is at 39 cm front of the mirror
It is given that, Magnification m= -3 (-ve as image is real)
Distance of object u= – 10 cm (-ve as it is on the left side of the mirror)
We can use the formula. From the formula of magnification, m = -v/u
We get, v = – u x m
Substituting the values = -(-10) x (-3)
= -30 cm.

Characteristics of Concave mirror
We have mentioned a few important points related to the Characteristics of Concave mirrors.
- Light converges at the point where it strikes and is reflected back from the reflecting surface of the concave mirror. Hence it is also known as a converging mirror.
- When a concave mirror is placed very close to an object, a magnified, upright virtual image is obtained.
- However, if we increase the distance between the object and the mirror, then the size of the image decreases, and a real and inverted image is formed.
- The image formed by a concave mirror can be small or large and can be real or virtual.
Concave lenses are used to cure short-sightedness sight. Apart from this, you can also use this mirror in other works also.
Summary:
A concave mirror produces three times magnified (enlarged) real image of an object placed at 10 cm in front of it. Where is the image located?
A concave mirror produces three times magnified (enlarged) real image of an object placed at 10 cm in front of it. The image is located 30 cm in front of the mirror. This mirror is used in automobiles and motor vehicles’ headlights, torchlights, railway engines, etc., as reflectors.
