Most Important Topics to Prepare for ECGC PO Exam 2018

ECGC PO 2018 exam is going to be held in the month of February as per the dates released in ECGC PO 2018 Notification. In this article, we will discuss topics to be prepared for the exam, based on last year exam analysis. This will help you in planning out your exam strategy in an efficient manner. There will be a single exam in which 5 subjects will be covered followed by a descriptive paper.

- All questions carry 1 mark.
- There will be the penalty for every wrong answer marked in the Objective Tests. For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted as penalty.
- Each candidate must clear both sectional and overall cut off to get shortlisted for the next round i.e., Interview.
- English Descriptive Paper marks will be reckoned for merit listing. It will be checked for those candidates who will qualify the Objective tests. Descriptive test to the extent of 10 times of the number of vacancies will be evaluated

Topics to prepare in Reasoning
- Puzzles and sitting arrangement (Floor Based, Circular, Linear Arrangement)
- Syllogism (Direct & Reverse)
- Input/output
- Coding Decoding (New Patterns)
- Logical Reasoning (Statement and conclusions, Assumptions, Arguments, Cause & Effect, Inferences)
- Miscellaneous (Blood Relations, Alphanumeric Series, Number, Ranking and time sequence, Direction Sense, etc.)
All the above topics came last year. As per the latest exams conducted, there may be chances that new pattern of all above topics can come. Be prepared for variations in all the topics.

Above mentioned topics were asked last year in ECGC PO exam. With these, also prepare other topics: Phrase Replacement, Para Jumble, Sentence Completion, Fillers, Vocab based questions, Idiom, and phrases.

- Number Series (Missing Number Series, Wrong Number Series)

These topics were asked last year in ECGC PO exam. You must prepare following topics too:
Data Interpretation (Case lets), Inequalities, Quadratic Equations, Ratio and proportion, Averages, Speed, Distance and time, Profit, Loss, and Discount, Percentages, Partnership, Permutation and combinations, Simple and compound interest, Probability, Mensuration
D.I section tests your ability to interpret and comprehend graphical data and then answer the questions that follow. You must have an idea of all the types of questions that are asked in all the recent exams so that you can attempt them in the correct manner.
Learning Table (at least up to 50), Squares, cubes, Square roots, percentage to fraction conversion & vice versa will increase your speed and calculation. These should be at your fingertips as it will save a lot of time.

Descriptive Test
In ECGC PO online descriptive test, two topics will be asked:
- Essay Writing
- Precise Writing
Essay Writing: In such exams, essay topics are asked from current issues. Thus, you should maintain a habit of reading newspaper on regular basis. This will improve your general awareness section too.
Be aware of all recent happenings or major issues or highlights in the news. Essay topics will come from there only.
Precise Writing: It is a short summary of a given longer passage written in your own words considering the thoughts of the author of the content. It should be accurate and briefly written.
The descriptive test will be held online, so also make a habit of typing articles. This will improve your writing skills as well as increase your typing speed.
