Table of content
For the Water Concrete Mix Weaker Than is Not Used
As per IS: 456,
The water-Cement ratio lies between 0.4 to 0.6. If the ratio is less than 0.4, the concrete becomes very stiff, and we need a plasticizer or superplasticizer for required workability.
And if the ratio is greater than 0.6, concrete becomes very lean and weak, and it can also erode the structure.
As per IS: 456, from table no. 5
Minimum cement content, maximum water-cement ratio and a minimum grade of concrete for different Exposures with a normal weight aggregate of 20 mm Nominal maximum size. The water content also depends upon the size of the aggregate.
As per IS: 12262: 2009
Maximum Water Content per cubic Metre of Concrete for Nominal Maximum Size of Aggregate
Nominal Maximum Size of Aggregate | Maximum Water Content (in kgs) |
10 | 208 |
20 | 186 |
40 | 165 |
Summary
For the Water Concrete Mix Weaker Than is Not Used
As per IS: 456, The water-cement ratio should not exceed 0.6. It can weaken the concrete and erode it as well.
