The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the NET until June 2018. However, from December 2018 onwards, the UGC-NET is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam is conducted twice a year in an online mode and not offline as it was conducted before.

The Eligibility for Assistant Professor or award of JRF depends upon the aggregate performance of the candidate in both the papers (Paper-I and Paper-II) of the UGC-NET.
