What is JKSET 2023?

The University of Jammu conducts the JKSET exam for all candidates interested in working as Associate Professors and Junior Research Associates within the different Colleges and Universities of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir. The National Eligibility Test (NET), which is administered by the University Grants Commission, serves as the foundation for the JKSET exam. It is a State level examination that is offered in both English and Vernacular language.

JKSET Eligibility 2023

Candidates must check the JKSET 2023 eligibility before applying for the exam. Candidates can find the eligibility criteria to apply for the JKSET exam below:

  • Candidates who have achieved 55% or more equivalent marks in their Master's Degree from universities/Institutions approved by UGC are eligible to apply to the JKSET exam.
  • There would be a relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks required for the SC/ST/Other Reserved Class/Persons with Disabilities (PwD)/Transgender candidates.
  • Candidates who have cleared or have appeared in their master's exam and candidates whose results are still awaited or whose exams have been postponed can also apply for the JKSET exam.
  • However, These candidates will be allowed provisionally. They will be accepted as assistant professors after passing the Master's exam or equivalent to 55% or higher (50% for candidates for the SC/ST/OBC/PwD category).
  • Ph.D. holders who passed the Master's degree exam by September 19, 1991, receive a 5% aggregate score relaxation for taking the JKSET 2023. 
  • Transgender category candidates are eligible to receive the same fee and age exemptions as those granted to SC, ST, and PWD categories.
  • Candidates who have already passed the UGC NET/CSIR NET exam before 1989 are not required to take the exam.
  • There is no upper age limit for applying for the examination.

JKSET Exam Pattern 2023

JKSET 2023 exam pattern consists of two papers i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2. There are multiple-choice questions in both of the papers. The candidates have three hours to complete both papers. JKSET Syllabus 2023
