JKSET 2023 released the notification for the State Eligibility Test (JKSET/LASET-2023) to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor in Universities and Colleges of UT of J&K (JKSET) and UT of Ladakh (LASET). The JKSET 2023 exam will be conducted in 39 subjects on October 1st 2023 (SUNDAY). The University of Jammu, which is the nodal agency, will conduct JKSET 2023 at three main Centers - Jammu, Srinagar and Leh.

Along with the notification of JKSET 2023, the authority also released the exam dates and information about the application process. Like the previous years, the exam comprises 2 Papers, of which paper- I is common for all the candidates and carries 100 marks. Paper- I of JKSET 2023 will assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. Paper II, on the other hand, will be based on the subject selected by the candidate and assesses domain knowledge. The University of Jammu released the notification for JKSET 2023 on its official website on 28 April 2023. JKSET, which is conducted for determining the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor, is only valid for Universities and Colleges of UT of J&K (JKSET) and UT of Ladakh (LASET). The JKSET exam is set to be held on 1st October 2023 for 39 subjects. The last date to apply for JKSET 2023 was 11 June 2023. This year, an additional subject, Tourism Administration & Management has been included.

JKSET 2023 is an offline examination that consists of two papers: Paper- I and Paper- II. Both of the papers comprise multiple-choice questions. +2 marks are allotted for each correct response, and there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers. What is JKSET?

JKSET stands for the Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test Exam conducted by the University of Jammu on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education. JKSET 2023 is administered for candidates interested in working as Assistant Professors and Junior Research Associates within different Colleges and Universities of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir.

The National Eligibility Test (NET), which is administered by the University Grants Commission, serves as the foundation for the JKSET 2023. The exam is conducted in various subjects such as English, Urdu, Hindi, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Commerce, Education, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, and Computer Science and Applications. JKSET 2023 has also included Tourism Administration & Management, making the total number of subjects to 39.

JKSET Eligibility 2023

Candidates must check the JKSET 2023 eligibility before applying for the exam. Satisfying the eligibility criteria is key to applying for the exam. Here are the JKSET 2023 eligibility requirements for the reference of applicants.

  • Candidates who have achieved 55% or more equivalent marks in their Master's Degree from universities/Institutions approved by UGC are eligible to apply to the JKSET 2023.
  • There would be a relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks required for the SC/ST/Other Reserved Class/Persons with Disabilities (PwD)/Transgender candidates.
  • Candidates who have cleared or have appeared in their master's exam and candidates whose results are still awaited or whose exams have been postponed can also apply for the JKSET 2023.
  • However, These candidates will be allowed provisionally. They will be accepted as assistant professors after passing the Master's exam or equivalent to 55% or higher (50% for candidates for the SC/ST/OBC/PwD category).
  • Ph.D. holders who passed the Master's degree exam by September 19, 1991, receive a 5% aggregate score relaxation for taking the JKSET 2023 exam. 
  • Transgender category candidates are eligible to receive the same fee and age exemptions as those granted to SC, ST, and PWD categories.
  • Candidates who have already passed the UGC NET/CSIR NET exam before 1989 are not required to take the JKSET 2023 exam.
  • There is no upper age limit for applying for the examination.

JKSET Application Form 2023

The application process for the JKSET 2023 started on 5th May 2023 and ended on 11 June 2023, after the notification was released on 28 April 2023. All candidates who wish to participate in the exam must have submitted the application forms.
