The National Testing Agency has released the revised CSIR NET Eligibility 2022. The criteria are based on age limit and educational qualifications. To be eligible to fill the online application for the exam, candidates must have an M.Sc. or equivalent degree/BE/Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/B Pharma/B Tech/MBBS with at least 55% marks.

Updated CSIR NET Eligibility 2022

Candidates must meet all of the CSIR NET eligibility requirements for appearing in the exam. The eligibility is revised by the National Testing Agency recently. The CSIR NET exam is conducted to select candidates for Lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship positions. Candidates who meet the requirements can register for the exam and take it.

CSIR NET Age Limit 2022

Candidates must check CSIR NET Age Limit before applying for the exam. Also, the age limit for the JRF & Lectureship is different, candidates can check below.

  • As of January 1, 2022, the maximum age limit for the Joint Research Fellowship (JRF) is 28 years.
  • For reserved category candidates (SC/ST/PwD and Female applicants) the upper age limit may be relaxed by up to 5 years, and for OBC (Non-creamy layer candidates) by up to 3 years.
  • There is no minimum age requirement for the Lectureship.

CSIR NET Age Limit for JRF

Check the age limit for the JRF through CSIR NET for all the categories. The maximum age limit for the general categories is 28 years. Age relaxation is applicable for various categories as per government guidelines.

  • The maximum age limit is 28 years for UR.
  • SC/ST/PWD/Female Applicants must not exceed 33 years of age.
  • For OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Applicants, the maximum age limit is 31 years. 

CSIR NET Age Limit for Lectureship

There are no age limit criteria for the Lectureship through the CSIR NET. Candidates who are otherwise eligible can apply for the exam at any age.

  • There is no upper age limit.

CSIR NET Qualifications 2022

The CSIR NET qualifications are one of the important eligibility criteria. Candidates must check whether they have the required qualification for the exam or not. Here we have provided the list of educational qualifications required for the exam.

  • Candidates must have a BE, B.Pharma, B. Tech, MSc, Integrated BS-MS, MBBS, or any other science degree with a minimum of 55%.
  • Candidates in the reserved category receive a 5% mark relaxation. Candidates who are studying for an M.Sc and have finished their graduation (10+2+3) are also eligible to take this exam.
  • Candidates who have completed a B.Sc. or are enrolled in an Integrated MS-PhD program and have received at least a 55% mark are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates with an Engineering or Science background are eligible for the fellowship if they enroll in a Ph.D. or Ph.D. integrated program within two years of graduation.

CSIR NET Subject-Wise Qualification 2022

CSIR UGC NET qualifying standards include qualifications with at least 55% for General and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates and 50% for Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates.

Chemical SciencesHave an M.Sc./BS/B-Tech or similar degree in Chemistry with the required percentage.
Earth SciencesWithin the required qualifying criteria, pursued an M.Sc./BS-MS/BS-4 Years/B-Pharma or any similar degree in the subject of Earth Science.
Mathematical SciencesTo meet the qualifying requirements, you must have earned an M.Sc./BS-MS/BS/B-Tech or an equivalent degree in mathematics.
Physical SciencesHave a valid M.Sc. Physics or BS-MS in Physics degree, or any equivalent degree, within the required percentage.

Important Note :

  • Candidates that are enrolled in an M.Sc. program are eligible to apply. Those who have completed the 10+2+3 year education program are eligible to apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category if they will finish the qualification degree with qualifying marks inside the two-year validity period and are eligible for the fellowship from the effective start date.
  • Only Ph.D. holders who received a 50% mark on their master's degree before September 19, 1992, are eligible for Lectureship.
  • Candidates who qualify for Lectureship will be considered for Lectureship as well as a Junior Research Fellowship in a Scheme/Project.
  • Candidates will be awarded JRF fellowships from the CSIR or the UGC, depending on their assignment, or from programs in which they may have an affiliation.
  • Candidates who have been declared eligible for a Junior Research Fellowship or a Lectureship under the UGC scheme will be subject to UGC rules and regulations.

CSIR NET Nationality

The candidate must be an Indian citizen in order to be eligible for CSIR NET. Candidates of various nationalities are not permitted to register for the exam. If you are a citizen of India but residing in any foreign country you may apply for the exam without any hurdle. All you need to do is make sure you have documents to prove your nationality.

  • There is no count on the number of attempts in CSIR NET. Candidates can fill out the CSIR NET Application Form till they are over age for the JRF and for Lectureship there is no limit on the number of attempts. Candidates can fill out the application for lectureship as many times as they want.
