What Is Blood Relation?

Before starting with any strategy, we should know about the definition of the Blood Relation to understand the question.

So, the Blood Relation is a tree or hierarchy of the family structure or relationships, namely- grandparents, parents, children, niece, nephew, etc. Here, the various relationships between the family members of the diverse Generation will give in the form of the question. While solving these kinds of problems, we draw the link of the tree to solve the puzzle by putting different relationships.

Blood Relation Questions Based on the Single Person

If Blood Relation Questions asked from the Single Person Based, candidates, have to follow the below steps-

1. Consider the scenario on yourself, like- Mother’s Daughter would be me, etc.
2. To find the answer, the sentence will be broken into- “is/as/was.”
3. Candidates can revert in the sentence form to check the answer.

For Example-

Pointing to a photograph, a lady tells Jaya, “I am the only daughter of the lady, and her son is your maternal uncle.” How is the speaker related to Jaya’s father?

Solution- The relation of the daughter will not exist in this sentence because it is not related to the question asked. Here, the only daughter of the lady- refers to the speaker’s mother.

Speaker’s Mother’s Son = Speaker’s Brother = Jaya’s Uncle = speaker is Jaya’s Mother

Answer- Speaker is related to Jaya’s Father as Wife

Questions Based on Mixed Blood Relation

The Mixed Blood relation is another type of Blood Relation, which is asked in many of the competitive exams. It shows the analytics skills of the candidates. They have to approach right in one go while reading the question. The Mixed Blood Relation problems are also referred to as Chain Blood Relation Problems.

The questions will be solved with the help of a family tree or diagrams because there is more than one person mentioned. We can use the symbol to avoid confusion while answering the questions.

Following are the symbols used while solving the questions of Mixed Blood Relationship:

 Symbol Denotes For + Male Candidate - Female Candidate <=> Couple ——- Same Generation: brother –brother (or) sister-sister (or) sister – brother _______ Different Generations: father-son (or) mother-son (or) father-daughter (or) Mother-daughter

• First Generation- Grand Father and Grand Mother
• Second Generation- Father, Mother, Uncle, and Aunt
• Third Generation- Self, Sister, Brother, Brother In Law, and Sister In Law
• Fourth Generation- Son, Daughter, Nephew, and Niece

Example-

Amit and Punit are brothers, and Sheela and Leela are sisters. Amit’s son is Leela’s brother. How is Punit related to Sheela?

Solution- We will take the first letter of each name of the person mentioned in the question.

Amit and Punit are brother= A+P (as per the symbol for Male Person)

Sheela and Leela are sisters= S-L (as per the symbol for Female Person)

As the A & P are brothers, we will define them for the same Generation, as same for the S & L.

From the above diagram, it is clear that Punit is the UNCLE of Sheela.

Question- A family consists of six members P, Q, R, X, Y, and Z. Q is the son of R but R is not the mother of Q. P and R are married couples. Y is the brother of R. X is the daughter of P. Z is the brother of P. How many children does P have?

Question- A family consists of six members P, Q, R, S, T, and U. There are two married couples. Q is a doctor and the father of T. U is the grandfather of R and is a contractor. S is a grandmother of T and is a housewife. There is one doctor, one contractor, one nurse, one housewife, and two students in the family. Which of the following is definitely a group of male members?

(A) QUP

(B) UT

(D) QUT

Question- A is the son of B, C. B's sister has a son D and a daughter E. F is the maternal uncle of D. How many nephews does F have?

(A) 1

(C) 3

(D) 0

Question- All the six members of a family A, B, C, D, E, and F are travelling together. B is the son of C but C is not the mother of B. A and C are married couples. E is the brother of C. D is the daughter of A. F is the brother of B. Who is the mother of B?

(B) B

(C) C

(D) D
