The two Main Types of Drip Irrigation are sub-surface and surface drip irrigation. Water is applied using small tubes below the soil’s surface in sub-surface drip irrigation. In the second method, water is sprayed directly onto the soil’s surface using drip irrigation. Many different types of droplet emitter devices employ this common technique.

Main Types of Drip Irrigation

A system of small-diameter plastic pipes with outlets called emitters or drippers is used for drip irrigation, also known as trickle irrigation. It drips water onto the soil at very low rates (2-20 liters/hour). The advantages are higher water application efficiency and minimized water loss or nutrition loss.
