To become an Airman in the IAF there physical and medical standards are given below:
Physical Standards:

Hearing | Should be able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters by each ear |
Height:
The minimum height acceptable is 152.5 cm. But there is a relaxation for applicants belonging to NE and hilly states. Below are the height standards for some special trades:

Note: Candidates from NE and Hill states include Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Assamese, Kumaonis, and those belonging to the States of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim, and hilly areas of Uttarakhand.
Body Tattoos:
Body tattoos are not allowed in the Indian Air Force however, tattoos just on the inward face of the lower arms (within elbow to the wrist), back(dorsal) some portion of the hand/turn around side of the palm, and Tribal tattoos based on custom & traditions of their clans might be considered.
Eyesight:
- Eyesight for candidates applying for Group X (except education instructors)should be 6/12 of each eye correctable to 6/6. While for education instructors the eyesight can be 6/36 of each eye correctable to 6/9.
- Eyesight for candidates applying for Group Y (IAF (Police) & IAF (Security)) is 6/6 unaided. While for GTI, Ops Assistant, and Auto Technician it is 6/12 each eye correctable upto 6/6.
Note: Candidates undergoing LASIK and PRK are not acceptable.
