TNPSC CESE Exam Pattern 2022

TNPSC CESE Exam Pattern 2022 is prescribed by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) for the selection of suitable candidates for engineering services. The candidates who will be applying for the TNPSC CESE exam 2022 must check out the paper pattern and marking scheme so that they can begin their exam preparation. The selection process for the TNPSC Engineering Services will be made on the basis of the following stages:

  • Stage 1: Written-test, OMR Based
  • Stage 2: Document Verification/Certificate Verification
  • Stage 3: Counseling

A candidate will have to qualify each stage of the examination process to be able to be appointed to qualify the TNPSC CESE exam. The written exam will have two papers, paper 1 and paper 2 for 500 marks. All the questions will be objective questions. TNPSC CESE Exam Pattern for Written Exam - Paper 1 & Paper 2

The first stage of the TNPSC CESE exam 2022 is the written exam. The exam will be held in offline mode by the TNPSC in various exam centres in Tamil Nadu. 

  • The TNPSC CESE Exam comprises two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2
  • Paper 1 will be a subject paper based on the Civil Engineering, Architectural Assistantship, and Handloom Technology /Textile Technology/Textile Manufacture subjects.
  • The TNPSC CESE Civil engineering paper will be set in both English and Tamil while other subjects will be set in only English. 
  • CESE Paper 1 will be based on the Diploma Standard.
  • The TNPSC CESE Paper 2 will be the General Studies paper and Mental Aptitude Ability paper of 100 marks.
  • The level of TNPSC CESE Paper 2 will be that of HSC and SSLC level.
  • The exam will be for 5 hours where paper 1 will be for 2 hours and paper 2 for 2 hours.

TNPSC CESE Qualifying Marks

The TNPSC has set the minimum qualifying marks for the TNPSC CESE 2022 Exam that is tabulated below. 

  • The total mark of the TNPSC Combined Engineering paper is 500 marks.
  • Candidates belonging to the SCs, SC(A)s, STs, BC(OBCM)s, MBCs/DCs, and BCMs category will have to obtain 150 Marks in both Paper I and Paper II combined.
  • On the other hand, candidates who belong to the ‘other’ category will have to obtain at least 200 marks in both, Paper I and Paper II combined.

TNPSC CESE Exam Exam Pattern FAQs

  • The TNPSC CESE exam will have two papers. The first paper will be for 300 marks while the 2nd paper will be for 200 marks. The exam will have only objective type of questions that will have to be completed in 5 hours duration. 

  • The TNPSC CESE written exam will be conducted in both English and Tamil while Architectural Assistantship, and Handloom Technology /Textile Technology/Textile Manufacture subjects will be set in only English. 

  • The TNPSC CESE Paper 2 will be set in English language only. 

  • No, there will not be an Interview for the TNPSC Combined Engineering Services 2022 Exam. Click here for Part 18 C of TNPSC CES. 

  • The qualifying marks for the TNPSC Engineering exam is 150/500 marks for the SCs, SC(A)s, STs, BC(OBCM)s, MBCs/DCs and BCMs categories while other category candidates will have to obtain 200/500 marks. 

  • The TNPSC CESE exam will be conducted in only Offline mode.
