Can Final Year Students Apply for UPSC? The answer is yes. Every year lakhs of candidates appear for the Civil Services Exam conducted by UPSC. however, there are a few eligibility conditions the students must meet if they want to apply for UPSC Exam. As per the eligibility criteria, candidates who are graduates can apply for the UPSC exam. However, candidates who are in their final year can also apply for UPSC only if they meet certain conditions.

Can Final Year Students Apply for UPSC?

The answer is yes, the Final Year Students can Apply for UPSC. However, they need to meet the eligibility criteria. Before discussing how Final Year Students Can Apply for UPSC, let’s take a look at the UPSC Eligibility criteria a student must meet. Otherwise, he/she won’t be able to apply.

  • A student must be a citizen of India
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • a person of Indian origin (PIO) who has migrated from Malawi, Pakistan, Burma, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Sri Lanka, and East African countries of Kenya, Ethiopia, Zaire, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit for Candidates

Apart from the above-mentioned eligibility criteria, candidates need to meet the age limit as well. We have mentioned the age limit for different categories of candidates. The minimum age limit for a candidate is to be at least 21 tears of age on the 1st of August of that given year when the exam is held.

How Can Final Year Students Apply for UPSC?

The final-year students can also apply for the UPSC Prelims Exam. However, there are certain conditions to that:

  • The degree must be from a recognized university. Candidates with a professional or technical degree can also apply.
  • Those candidates who clear UPSC Prelims and get selected for UPSC Mains need to submit proof of their passing the university exam along with their Mains application. Only after that will they be allowed to appear Mains.
  • If the candidates fail to provide the required proof, they will not be allowed to appear in the Mains exam.
  • MBBS graduates who are yet to complete their internship can also apply for the UPSC Mains. But they need to have a certificate from their university stating that they have completed all the requirements for the medical degree at the time of the UPSC personality test.
