How many students appeared for UPSC 2023? Approximately 13 lakh students appeared for the UPSC prelims 2023 exam, out of which 14,624 got selected for Mains. UPSC exam is one of the toughest exams conducted by the Union Public Service Commission every year to recruit candidates for the posts of IPS, IAS, IFS, IRS, and rest 20 civil services. The Prelims exam was conducted on 28th May 2023 and selected candidates will appear in the Mains paper from  15th September 2023. The number of students who applied for the UPSC 2022 exam was 11.52 lakhs.

Every year approximately 10,00,000 students appear for the exam. However, the overall UPSC pass percentage of candidates is 0.2%. Number of Candidates Cleared UPSC Prelims 2023

The prelims is the first stage of the recruitment process, the candidates clearing the prelims exam will be able to proceed further in the mains stage of the recruitment process. In total, 14624 candidates got selected in the UPSC prelims 2023 and are qualified for the mains exam. The selected candidates will be required to fill out the UPSC DAF form within the stipulated time period. Approximately 13 lakh aspirants appeared for the exam, out of which only 14,624 have been selected for the next round. This presents a crystal clear picture of the difficulty level of the exam.

How Many Students Appeared for UPSC 2023?

On 28th May 2023, approximately 13 lakh students appeared for UPSC Prelims 2023 which was held at 79 exam centers across India for a total of 1255 vacancies. Out of these, only 14624 students were able to score marks above cut off and are eligible to proceed for the Mains round.

The number of candidates applying for the Civil services examination is increasing every year, but the number of candidates selected out of the total number remains almost constant. This ascertains the difficulty level of the exam, which is why more and more aspirants are unable to crack it.

Number of Students Appeared for UPSC 2022

Millions of candidates apply for the UPSC exam yearly, but only a few clear the exam to get into their desired job. Though the Commission opens the opportunity for only 1000 vacancies, the number of candidates who appear for the exam is increasing rapidly because of the prestige, job security, publicity, and increase in salary that comes with the posts.

The number of students who applied for the UPSC 2022 exam was 11.52 lakhs, out of which 13090 cleared the Prelims exam and qualified for Mains. Based on the final result released on 23 May 2023, the number of candidates who are recommended to join the Civil Services is 933 out of which 345 are from the General category, 99 belong to EWS, 263 from OBC, and 154 and 72 from SC and ST respectively.

UPSC Pass Percentage

Aspirants who are studying hard for the upcoming UPSC exam must not feel demotivated by looking at the UPSC pass percentage. Take it as a target and boost your performance level for the UPSC Prelims exam, which is scheduled to take place on 28 May 2023. In 2022, out of 11.52 lakhs candidates who applied for UPSC 2022, only 13090 cleared the Prelims exam.

The number of students who have cleared the Mains exam as per the UPSC result released on 06 December is 2529. It means only 19.3% of candidates are declared qualified for the Interview. Generally, the UPSC pass percentage, or the chances of an applicant becoming a Civil Services officer, is around 0.2%. Aspirants must leave no stone unturned to prepare well for the forthcoming exam.
