What is the Indian Coast Guard (ICG)?

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is a multi-mission organisation under the Ministry of Defence. It has jurisdiction over the territorial waters. Indian Coast Guard was established on 1st February 1977 by the Coast Guard Act, 1978. The ICG works with close cooperation with the Indian Navy, Dept. of Fisheries, Dept. of Revenue, and Central and State police. ICG is headed by the Director-General Indian Coast Guard (DGICG).

Indian Coast Guard Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the Indian Coast Guard for the post of Navik (GD & DB) and Yantrik vary in terms of educational qualification. The eligibility criteria for Indian Coast Guard Yantrik and Navik are given below here. 

a) Educational Qualification for Indian Coast Guard Navik GD 

You should have passed 10+2 with Maths and Physics from a recognized board.

b) Educational Qualification for Indian Coast Guard Navik DB

You should have passed 10th Class from a recognized board.

c) Educational Qualification for Indian Coast Guard Yatrik

  • 10th Class passed from a recognized Board. 
  • 3 years or 4 years Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical / Electronics/ Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering approved by AICTE.

OR

  • 10th and 12th Passed from a recognized board 
  • 2 or 3 years Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical / Electronics/ Telecommunication (Radio/Power) Engineering approved by AICTE.

Indian Coast Guard Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

The Indian Coast Guard PFT will be qualifying in nature where the candidate will be simply declared either pass or fail. The ICG Physical Fitness Test will determine the Physical Ability to perform a physical task.
