The features of an image created in a plane mirror are:

  • The plane mirror creates an erect, imaginary image that cannot be projected or focussed on a screen.
  • The distance between the object in front of the mirror and the image ehind the mirror is equal.
  • The size of the object and the image that is created match.
  • When viewed through the plane mirror, the left hand seems to be the right hand because the image is laterally reversed.
  • The picture moves at the same rate that the object does as it moves toward (or away from) the mirror at a specific rate.
