About Internet Protocol

Internet protocol (IP) sets or defines the structure of information and transfers it to different networks in the form of data packets which are referred to as datagrams.

The internet protocol was first introduced in 1974 by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. It was described by the computer scientists Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn.

There have been different versions of IPs that are being used on the internet. This includes IPV4 (IP version 4) and IP 6 (IP version 6). The IP version used currently is IPV4. The IP primarily provides legitimate network addresses for the transfer of the datagrams.

Currently, the IPV 4 is used for connecting devices, and it takes around four billion IP addresses available for the user. IPV 6 is an upcoming next-generation internet protocol.
