Who was the First Director of NIA?

The First Director of NIA was Radha Vinod Raju. NIA is the National Investigation Agency that was formed 2008 by the Parliament of India on 31 December 2008, with Radha Vinod Raju being its Director General who served until 31 January 2010.

The National Investigation Agency is one of those national security agencies that have special powers to question anyone, anytime, without doing primary formalities. When India faced the horrifying terror attack on Mumbai on November 26, 2008, the government got to know that it was a complete intelligence failure, and it led to the formation of NIA.

It was formed with a vision to have an international-level investigation agency for national security. The current director of NIA is IPS Dinkar Gupta. He was appointed on 28 June 2022.
