Panchayat Samiti is the Panchayati Raj System’s middle or intermediate layer. They go by different names in different states. Its structure and tasks are likewise distinct because they are determined by the Act passed by the respective state. It synchronizes the activity of all Panchayats within a Block.

In India, a Panchayat Samiti is a rural local government entity at the intermediate tehsil level. It is useful for the villages of the tehsil, which form a development block. It has been described as the “panchayat of panchayats.”
