Prithviraj Chauhan and Mohammed Ghori fought the first Battle of Tarain which is also known as the first Battle of Taroari. The battle took place in 1191 between the Mohammed Ghori-led Ghurid army and the Rajput confederacy led by Prithviraj Chauhan. The Rajput confederacy got the victory in this battle and Mohammed Ghori managed to escape.
- Later on, Mohammed Ghori raised the number of men in his Army to 1,20,000 and fought with Prithviraj Chauhan in the second Battle of Tarain.
- In this battle, Prithviraj Chauhan was defeated by Mohammed Ghori. Prithviraj Chauhan escaped the battlefield but was captured and killed near Sirsa.
