Are visible Tattoos allowed in IAS Exam?

Tattoos appearing on exposed body parts are generally not considered good if one enters civil services. The reason is that as a part of the Indian Administrative Services, the members are asked to follow certain Central Civil Services Rules.

  • The IAS officer with the tattoo creates a non-professional image of the person in front of the public.
  • Those who are part of the IAS should refrain from being treated like “indecent of a government official” and not show their tattoos on the most visible body parts.
  • There is no strict rule for tattoos in the IAS exam 2023, but police officers and army personnel are not allowed to enter the concerned department with tattoos on their bodies.
  • The Civil services have individuals from all walks of life; hence many Famous IAS officers who initially had tattoos in their modeling or celebrity profession were also selected as IAS officers.
