Rai Bahadur Dayaram Sahni discovered the Harappa Civilization. He started the first extensive excavations in 1920. This civilization is also known as Indus Valley Civilization (IVC). In the eastern part of Punjab province lies a place called Harappa. On the banks of the Ravi was where Harappa was found. Madho Swaroop Vatsa and Wheeler conducted additional excavations at the Harappa site between 1926 and 1946.

Who Discovered Harappa?
Harappa Civilization was situated on the bank of the Indus river. The cities were popular for their baked brick houses, urban planning, water supply systems, and elaborate drainage systems. There were 30,000 and 60,000 individuals in the Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa, respectively. The major sites of this civilization were Harappa, Mohenjo-Daro, Dholavira, and Rakhigarhi.
The sites were located in northeast Afghanistan, Pakistan, and western and northwestern India. Rai Bahadur Dayaram Sahni, in 1920, discovered the Harappan Civilization. The main discoveries found by Rai Bahadur Dayaram Sahni at the Harappan site included human anatomical sculptures made of sandstone, granaries, bullock carts, clay mother goddess figures, and copper-made mirrors.
After Pakistan gained independence in 1966, Mohammed Rafique Mughal of the Archaeological Survey of Pakistan began excavating in Harappa. When bricks from the remains were utilised as rail ballast in the construction of the Lahore-Multan Railway during the British era, the Harappan city suffered significant damage.
