NDA 3 Year Training Fees - Fees Structure after Selection

This article will address a frequently asked question about "NDA 3 Year Training Fees." NDA is one of the best entries to join Defence forces. UPSC conducts the examination twice yearly for Indian Air Force, Indian Army, and Indian Navy. Those candidates who qualify for the entire process will be trained at NDA for 3 years and 1 year in their respective academies.

NDA 3 Year Training Fees

There are two terms in the NDA academic year. Beginning in January and ending in May (July to December). The Cadet passes through six of these terms. Three years are spent in the training phase. The NDA 3 Year Training Fees are the next concern that candidates have after enrolling in the training. The NDA training fee consists of the following:

  • The fee for NDA training, including accommodation, books, uniforms, boarding and medical treatment, will be borne by the Government.
  • Parents or guardians of cadets will be required to meet their pocket and other private expenses.
  • Normally, these expenses will not likely exceed INR 3000/- Per Month.
  • If the cadet’s parents or guardian cannot meet wholly or partly, even this expenditure financial assistance of INR 1000/- p.m. for the training period may be granted by the Government whose parental income is less than INR 21,000/- per month.
  • Cadets whose parent’s or guardian’s income exceeds INR 21,000/- per month will not be liable for the assistance.
  • If more than one son/ward simultaneously undergo training at NDA, IMA, OTA and corresponding training establishment in the Navy and Air Force, both would be eligible for financial assistance. 

The parent/guardian of a candidate desirous of having financial assistance from the Government should immediately after his son/ward has been finally selected for training at the National Defence Academy, submit an application through the District Magistrate of his District, who will forward the application with his recommendation to the Commandant, National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune-411023.

Eligibility Criteria for NDA Training

The following are the eligibility criteria one must fulfil before enrolling for NDA training:

  • Both males and females can apply for the NDA Exam.
  • The age limit is 16.5 - 19.5 years.
  • Candidates must appear or complete class 12th from a recognized board.
  • The minimum height for male and female candidates is 157 cm and 152.5 cm.
  • For Pilot entry minimum height criteria is 162 cm.
  • There is some relaxation in height criteria for the candidates belonging to a particular region.

NDA Training Fee to be Deposited after Selection

Candidates finally selected for training at the Academy will be required to deposit the following NDA training fees with the Commandant, National Defence Academy, on their arrival there:

Fixed Stipend for Cadets in NDA Training

Stipend to male/female Cadets during the entire duration of training in Service academies, i.e. during the NDA training period at IMA, is INR 56,100/- p.m.* (Starting pay in Level 10).
