Moving process from main memory to disk is called swapping. An ability of an operating system to manage or handle primary memory and switch among main memory and the disc during the execution of processes is known as memory management.

A process can be temporarily moved to secondary storage (the disc) using a procedure called swapping, which frees up memory for use by other processes.
The main reason of swapping is to keep the memory free for processes which are running at the current moment. It allows removing processes temporarily which not in a ready state in order to replace with processes which are in a ready state.
An operating system’s ability to handle or manage primary memory and switch between main memory and the disc during the execution of processes is known as memory management.
