Mistakes to avoid while preparing for UGC NET Exam 2023

Candidates need to be very careful while preparing for UGC NET Exam. One mistake in the process can mess up your merit to qualify for UGC NET 2023 Exam. The UGC NET Preparation strategy includes a neat UGC NET Study plan, UGC NET books, UGC NET Syllabus and much more. Let us have a look at the mistakes to avoid while preparing for the exam.

1. Ignoring the technical aspects of Online Exam.

You must be knowing that UGC NET exam is conducted in online mode. Many deserving candidates feel anxious while sitting for the online examination. This is because in their course of preparation, they do not include online UGC NET mock tests which increases their anxiety level. Knowing all the technicalities of the online exam makes one stay calm during any technical glitch that occurs during the exam. 

2. Practicing offline.

Many candidates practice only offline. While practicing offline, candidates fail to address the following points.

(i) Management of time.

(ii) Usage of extra rough sheets which are limited in online exam.

(iii) Transition time from one question to another question.

So, we suggest you practicing online to adapt yourself according to the online pattern.

3. Preparing for multiple exams at a time.

Candidates prepare for multiple exams like UGC NET/SSC and other exams. But each exam has different criteria, standard and pattern to assess candidates. So, do not prepare for multiple exams and try to focus only on one exam.

4. Referring multiple resources for study material.

Many candidates waste their energy and resources in referring multiple UGC NET Books and various online platforms for study material. When you expose yourself to different study material for a single exam, you are likely to get confuse between the methods of application. This may elevate your anxiety level and therefore, one is advised to practise one book multiple times rather practising from multiple books at a time.  

5. Too much or too low importance to individual section.

Mostly all the topics of UGC NET exam have equal weightage, but candidates fail to devote equal time to all the topics.

6. Neglecting Data Interpretation Section.

Candidates do not focus on Data Interpretation section because they think that DI is time-consuming in UGC NET Exam. But it is also important to remember that this subject can also fetch you maximum marks with a little practice. So, do not try to neglect this section.

7. Relying only on short tricks

It has been seen that candidates depend only on short tricks to solve questions and they try to remember each and every short trick of questions but when the question is modified, they confuse themselves and fail to attempt the question. It is advised not to rely only on short tricks as basic concepts goes a long way in the competition.

8. Not making short notes

Making short notes for Teaching/Research Aptitude and formulas of Reasoning/Maths subject help you to revise easily before the exams in a little time. So, try to make short notes. 

9. Getting attached to a particular question.

During the examination it is advised not to stick to a particular question. Instead, move to the next question which can be solved easily. Remember, your aim is to score maximum marks, so always attempt those questions first which you can solve in lesser time.

10. Not giving enough importance to Revision.

As exam approaches, students get anxious and waste their time in studying new things. We suggest you not to pick any new topic just before exams. Only revise those topics which you have already studied well.
