UGC NET 2023: The Notification for UGC NET June 2024 is expected by the end of March 2024. The UGC NET 2024 exam will be held from 10th June to 21st June 2024.

NTA released the E–Certificate and JRF Award Letter for UGC-NET December 2023 on 26th February, 2024. The result for UGC NET 2023 on 18th January 2024. The UGC NET December 2023 exam was concluded from 6th December- 19th December 2023. The UGC NET exam was conducted in 83 subjects in 292 cities nationwide for 9,45,918 candidates. The UGC NET is held twice a year and consists of two papers. Paper 1 is a general paper on teaching and research aptitude, and Paper 2 is on the candidate's chosen subject of specialization. UGC NET 2024

UGC NET 2023: The Notification for UGC NET June 2024 is expected by the end of March 2024. The  UGC NET 2024 exam slated to be conducted from 10th- 21st June 2024.

What is UGC NET Exam?

The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test, also known as the NTA UGC NET, was administered by the National Testing Agency. It is a national exam to select candidates for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship or NET JRF positions in Indian universities and colleges. It is the gateway for candidates who want to make their career in research work or want to impart education in universities and top colleges of India.

The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year, in June and December. The exam was administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of the Union Grant Commission till June 2018. But since December 2018, the National Testing Agency (NTA) began administering the UGC NET exam.

UGC NET Posts

After completing the UGC NET exam, candidates must be well aware of the position they will be chosen for. Those who pass the exam will be qualified for assistant professor and junior research fellowship positions at Indian universities and colleges.   • Assistant Professor: One of the most renowned and respected occupations in the nation is that of an assistant professor. Candidates who pass the UGC NET exam are eligible to apply for positions as lecturers at all public and private universities in the nation. Candidates can become assistant professors after clearing the NET Exam and JRF Exam.
  • NET JRF: Candidates who clear the JRF Exam or qualify as Junior Research Fellows will get an initial salary of 25,000 rupees for up to two years. Starting in the third year, candidates will become Senior Research Fellows (Basic pay = Rs. 28,000). Additionally, Candidates can apply for Ph.D. programs at numerous colleges, including IITs, IIMs, and various R and D organizations. NET JRF is a prestigious opportunity offered only to selected candidates who wish to increase the standard of research in the country. The maximum age for JRF was changed on January 5, 2023, by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates must not be older than 30 as of December 1, 2023, in accordance with the new NTA UGC NET regulations.

UGC NET Full Form

UGC NET full form stands for National Eligibility Test, which the Council of Scientific Research (CSIR) and Union Grant Commission (UGC) conduct to select the candidates for JRF or Assistant Professor in various subjects. The University Grants Commission earlier stated that applicants who pass the UGC NET Exam would be qualified for lucrative careers as private college lecturers in public sector organizations.

For the purpose of hiring executives for positions in their organization in the fields of science, management, corporate communications, human resources, and finance, PSUs may utilize both the NET and JRF Exam scores, depending on posts. UGC NET 2023 Application Form

National Testing Agency released the application form for the December cycle of UGC NET 2023 on the official website on 30 September 2023. The application window will be open from 30 September to 28 October. After the application window is closed for candidates, the correction window will be activated to allow candidates to change their application form for the last time before submission.

UGC NET Reservation Policy

The reservation policy of the Government of India is applied to UGC NET exam. According to the reservation policy, the Central Universities and Institutions that are deemed to be Universities follow the below reservation criteria:

  • 10% of the seats are reserved for the category General-Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS)
  • 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non Creamy layer”(OBC-NCL)

Each category has 4% reservations horizontally for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act, 2016).

UGC NET Exam Pattern

The UGC NET 2023 exam pattern consists of Paper 1 and Paper 2. As per the prescribed UGC NET exam pattern, both papers contain multiple-choice questions. Candidates need to complete both papers in a single duration of three hours. +2 marks are allotted for each correct response, and there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers. UGC NET 2023 Selection Process

The UGC NET selection process is quite straightforward. As per the norms of the commission, only 6% of candidates will be shortlisted out of the total number of candidates that will appear in both papers. Candidates can check out the selection process for NET JRF and Lectureship in detail below.

  • The release of the application form marks the beginning of the selection process for the upcoming exam cycle. By visiting the exam's official website, applicants must register and complete the application form online. Candidates must submit an application fee in order to fill out the form.
  • Around a week before UGC NET 2023, the NTA releases the admit card following successful registrations. Candidates can access their registered accounts to download their admit cards. On the day of the exam, candidates must bring it to the exam locations.
  • Only six percent of the applicants who appeared in both papers will qualify, and only one percent of those applicants will pass the JRF exam overall.
  • For consideration for the positions of NET JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor and "Assistant Professor," a candidate must have taken both exams and obtained at least 40% marks overall for the General (Unreserved) category and at least 35% overall for all candidates from the reserved categories in both papers taken together.
