(B) Aβ < 1

(C) Aβ = 1

(D) A = 1/sqrt(β)

Barkhausen criterion for oscillator stability is Aβ = 1. As for an oscillator there is no input voltage, its output is independent of input voltage. An amplifier circuit with positive feedback that has an oscillator is one where a portion of the output feeds back to the input through a feedback circuit.

### Explain Barkhausen Criterion

The Barkhausen criterion |Aβ| = 1 |A| = 1— where β is the feedback gain and A is the amplifier gain —should be satisfied.

Barkhausen Criterion or Conditions for Oscillation: If two requirements, referred to as Barkhausen’s criteria are satisfied, the circuit will oscillate. These two circumstances are:

• The loop gain needs to be at least one.
• The feedback signal entering the system must be phase-shifted by 360 degrees (which is the same as zero degrees). In most circuits, an inverting amplifier is employed to produce a 180° phase shift, and the feedback network adds another 180° to the phase shift.

History

A mathematical requirement known as the Barkhausen stability criterion is used in electronics to predict when a linear electronic circuit may oscillate. Heinrich Georg Barkhausen, a German physicist, proposed it in 1921. (1881–1956). It is frequently used to stop electronic oscillators from oscillating as well as to create generic negative feedback circuits like op amps.

Summary:

## Barkhausen criterion for oscillator stability is? (A) Aβ = 0 (B) Aβ < 1 (C) Aβ = 1 (D) A = 1/sqrt(β)

Barkhausen criterion for oscillator stability is Aβ = 1. An oscillator’s output is independent of input voltage since it lacks an input voltage. One in which a portion of the output feeds back to the input via a feedback circuit is an amplifier circuit with positive feedback and an oscillator.
