CSIR NET & SET Exams 2022: Registration, Exam Dates, Eligibility, Hall Ticket

The CSIR NET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) twice a year in June and December. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR UGC NET) is to select candidates for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Assistant Professor for university science subjects. 

The exam is conducted for Chemical Sciences, Life Science, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Earth, atmospheric, Ocean, & Planetary Sciences subjects.

What is the CSIR NET exam for?

The CSIR-UGC NET is a test that is used to assess eligibility for 'Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship/Assistant Professor positions in Indian universities and colleges, provided they meet the UGC's eligibility requirements.

CSIR NET Selection Process

The selection process of CSIR NET involves four stages. Candidates need to do well in each stage of the exam to get a JRF or Assistant Professor post.

Who are eligible for the CSIR NET exam?

Eligibility Criteria

Life Science

Pursued academic qualification in Life Science

Earth Science

Pursued M.Sc./ BS-MS/ BS-4 Years/ B.Pharma or any equivalent degree in the field of Earth Science

Chemical Science

A degree in M.Sc./ BS/ B.Tech or equivalent qualification in Chemistry with 55%


Pursued M.Sc./ BS-MS/ BS/ B.Tech or any equivalent degree in Mathematics

Physical Science

Valid degree in M.Sc. Physics or BS-MS in Physics or any equivalent degree
