The Salt Satyagraha protest in Tamil Nadu was led by C. Rajagopalachari. He was unanimously elected as the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president at the conference held in Vellore. 100 men, headed by C. Rajagopalachari, marched to Vedaranyam in April 1930 to break the British salt rule. They were motivated by Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi March and took inspiration from it.
On April 13, he set off for Vedaranyam and arrived on April 28. Mahatma Gandhi organized the Salt Satyagraha, a civil disobedience campaign, to challenge British authority in India.
