Chandragupta Maurya was the Founder of the Maurya Dynasty. He founded Maurya Dynasty in 322 BCE when he conquered the northwest Macedonian satrapies and the Magadha empire. Chandragupta Maurya established the Maurya Empire after overthrowing the Nanda Dynasty and Magadha Empire. He capitalized on the disruption caused by the withdrawal of Alexander the Great’s armies by quickly extending his rule over central and western India.

Maurya Empire was founded by Chandragupta Maurya, who ruled during the period of 350-295 BCE. When the Nanda Empire’s king Dhana Nanda insulted him, the teacher Chanakya convinced his disciple Chandragupta Maurya to conquer the state of Magadha.
By capturing the Macedonian Satrapies and triumphing in the Seleucid-Mauryan conflict, Chandragupta Maurya increased the size of the Maurya Empire to the north and west. Chandragupta Maurya was the first ruler who unified India under one political unit.
