Chandragupta Maurya was the Founder of the Maurya Dynasty. He founded Maurya Dynasty in 322 BCE when he conquered the northwest Macedonian satrapies and the Magadha empire. Chandragupta Maurya established the Maurya Empire after overthrowing the Nanda Dynasty and Magadha Empire. He capitalized on the disruption caused by the withdrawal of Alexander the Great’s armies by quickly extending his rule over central and western India.
