Who is known as Tiger of Mysore?

Tipu Sultan is known as the Tiger of Mysore. He was a renowned freedom fighter who battled the British until his death. He was a poet, a scholar, and a soldier. He reigned as emperor of the Kingdom of Mysore from 1782 to 1799. He fought four wars in a row to stop the British invasion of Mysore, but he tragically lost his life on May 4, 1799, during the fourth war.

Tiger of Mysore
Tipu Sultan also referred to as the Tiger of Mysore, ruled the South Indian kingdom of Mysore. He helped develop rocket artillery. Tipu Sultan became the ruler of Mysore after his father’s (Hyder Ali) death in December 1782. In 1784, he maintained peace with the Britishers and got the title of Tiger of Mysore.
In the fourth Anglo-Mysore war, he died in the battle on 04 May 1799. Some well-known facts about Tipu Sultan (Tiger of Mysore) are given below:

- It was believed that he was very fond of Tigers.
- His fighters used to wear tiger stripes outfits, and he hunted a Tiger in a Jungle with his French companion.

- Death – 04 May 1799 (During the fourth Anglo-Mysore war)
