The Longest Strait in the World is Malacca Strait at 800 kilometers. It is a tiny waterway that connects the South China Sea to the Andaman Sea. The Malacca Strait is one of the world’s busiest shipping waterways, connecting the Indian Ocean and the South China Marine and providing the shortest sea route between China and India. It was initially used to determine the path of the principal Asian people’s migrations through the Malay Archipelago.

With the development of the Sultanate of Malacca in the 15th century, the Sultanate of Johor, and the contemporary city-state of Singapore, the Straits of Malacca’s role in global commerce networks persisted in succeeding decades.

Throughout history, the straits have been administered by various regional powers.
In the early nineteenth century, the Dutch and British empires arbitrarily defined the border between Malaysia and Indonesia in the strait as a commitment to hunt pirates on their respective sides.
From an economic and strategic basis, the Malacca Strait is one of the most important marine routes in the world.
The strait connects major Asian economies such as India, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea, as well as serving as a vital shipping route between the Indian and Pacific oceans.
The Maritime Silk Road, which runs from the Chinese coast to the southernmost tip of India and ends in Mombasa, encompasses the Malacca Strait, the Red Sea through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean Sea, where it connects with the Upper Adriatic region in northern Italy.
Trieste’s central station has rail connections to Central Europe and the North Sea.
