The Current Status of MGNREGS according to the PIB report is 99.34% of wage employment has been offered for the fiscal year 2021-22. MGNREGS provided employment to 7.56 crore people and generated more than 130.9 billion person-days. In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste provided this information.

Current Status of MGNREGS
MGNREGS, which stands for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, is a demand-driven scheme that makes a rural household eligible for at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment against their demand for wage employment. According to a report published by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on 9 February 2022, the current status of MGNREGS is:

What are the provisions in MGNREGS?
To register for MGNREGS, individuals have to submit an application to the Gram Panchayat for the issuance of job cards. The provisions that are incorporated in the MGNREGS are as follows:
- A work entitlement of 100 days per year per rural household.
- Wage employment must be provided within 15 days of the application date.
- The wage seeker will be compensated for the delay at the rate of 0.05% of the unpaid wages per day of delay.
- In the event that no work is offered, the beneficiary is eligible for unemployment benefits.
