The current government strategy for poverty alleviation is based on two main areas or principles, namely, stimulating economic growth and introducing anti-poverty programmes, which will act as targeted sources of action. The government has also started various projects in the same direction with the aim of eradicating poverty in the country.

Current Government Strategy for Poverty Alleviation
Poverty in India has been a burning issue for years now, and hence many programs and initiatives have been taken toward poverty alleviation. Poverty alleviation is the term given to the activities carried out by following certain steps from an economic and human point of view to remove poverty from the country.
Poverty alleviation has been one of the most important agendas of the Government of India for many years. There are many factors that play a major role in creating poverty in the country, such as unemployment, lack of education and awareness, large population, and lack of economic empowerment.
Some programs of the current government for poverty alleviation are:
- Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005
- Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY)
- Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana (PMGY)
- Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Yojana (PMRY).
