What are Revenue Courts?

The Revenue Courts deal with land revenue cases in the State. The revenue office is the district’s highest revenue court. The commissioners’, collectors’, tehsildars’, and assistant tehsildars’ courts all fall under his jurisdiction. Final appeals against all lower tax courts below it are heard by the Tax Board. Board of Revenue, Commissioner’s Court, Collector’s Court, and Tehsildar’s Court are the different categories of revenue courts.

Revenue Courts
Under Section 4(16) of the UP Revenue Code, 2016 – Revenue Court means all or any of the following offices of the Board and all its members, Commissioners, Additional Commissioners, Additional Collectors, Assistant Collectors, Records Officers, Assistant Recorder, Assistant Settlement Officers, Tehsildar, and Naib Tehsildar.
Powers of Revenue Courts
Under the U.P. Revenue Code, 2006, the following powers are available to the Revenue Courts:
- Section 210 is the ability to request records.
- Under the terms of this section, the Board or the Commissioner may ask for records pertaining to any ongoing legal action or other proceedings.
- Even if there is an appeal, it has not yet been requested by any subordinate revenue court from which there is none.
- A request that comes from the same person after it has been forwarded to a commissioner will not be taken into account by any members of the relevant financial court.
- After this Code has been passed or 30 days have passed since the order was supposed to be changed, no new orders may be issued under this section.
