The largest invertebrate, a spineless creature, in the world is the Colossal Squid. The animals without a backbone or bony skeleton are called invertebrates. They lack a vertebral column, or backbone, in contrast to the cartilaginous or bony vertebrates. They are cold-blooded animals and can live on land or in water.

An animal’s vertebral column, which is derived from the notochord, does not exist in invertebrates, a paraphyletic group of creatures. All animals fall under this classification, with the exception of the chordate subphylum Vertebrata.
It belongs to the family Cranchiidae. The largest Colossal Squid, which weighed 495 kilos, was caught in 2007. Its total length is guessed to be between 33 and 46 feet. Antarctic squid and giant cranch squid are other names for the colossal squid.
