No, OBC is not a Minority Community. OBCs are referred to as socially, and educationally backward classes (SEBC), and the Indian government is mandated to ensure their social and educational development. For instance, OBCs are entitled to 27% reservations in public sector employment and higher education.

Does Minority Community include OBC?

According to the 2011 census, the percentage of minorities in the country is about 19.3%. The Muslim population is 14.2%; Christians 2.3%; Sikhs 1.7%, Buddhists 0.7%, Jains 0.4%, and Parsis 0.006%

The term “minority group” frequently appears in civil and collective rights discussions because members of minority groups are more likely to experience discrimination in the countries and cultures in which they reside.
Prejudice against members of minority groups is common in a variety of social settings, including but not limited to housing, employment, medical care, and education.
While prejudice can be perpetrated by a single person, it can also be caused by structural injustices, in which not everyone has access to the same opportunities and rights.
The OBC community is not a minority.
The Government of India uses the OBC classification to group individuals with social or educational disadvantages.

What is Minority Community?

Although the term minority is used in our Constitution, the Constitution has not attempted to define it.

A minority is defined as a community notified by the Central Government under the 1992 Nationality Commission for Minorities Act in Section 2. It includes India’s Parsi (Zoroastrian), Jain, Buddhist, Sikh, and Muslim religions.
