How Many Attempts are Allowed for SC in UPSC?

An unlimited number of attempts are allowed for SC in UPSC until they reach the permissible relaxed age limit. The SC category has a relaxed age limit of 37 years (32 years + 5 years). As a result, SC candidates can take the UPSC Exam at any time between the ages of 21 and 37. According to UPSC eligibility, these candidates are eligible for 5-year age relaxation.

Attempts Allowed for SC in UPSC
The UPSC Age Limit varies depending on the category to which a candidate belongs. SC Category candidates have no UPSC Attempt Limit until they meet the Union Public Service Commission’s eligibility criteria for this category.
Candidates from the Scheduled Castes, who the Ex-servicemen also cover, persons domiciled in J&K, blind, hearing impaired, and orthopedically handicapped categories are eligible for cumulative age relaxation under both categories. A few important criteria for SC in UPSC are as follows.
- The SC category candidate should ensure that they satisfy all the criteria applicable before applying for an Examination.
- A Scheduled Caste (SC) candidate is considered against the vacancies reserved only if they own a valid caste certificate.
- The aspirants need to outrank lower cutoffs in Prelims, Mains, and final merit.
- The maximum upper age limit, i.e., 37 years, should not have been reached as of 1st August of the exam year).
What is UPSC Exam?
The Union Public Service Commission holds an annual exam to select candidates for various decorated bureaucrat positions. Because most candidates choose IAS as their first preference, it is also known as an IAS exam in India. The UPSC Exam has three stages: preliminary examination, main examination, and interview. Candidates who obtained the required qualifying marks in the Prelims exam were eligible to take the Mains exam.
