Examples of Perennial and Non-Perennial Rivers: Perennial rivers are streams or rivers that constantly run across their riverbed for a whole year. Non-perennial rivers are rivers or streams that do not flow continuously throughout the entire year. The entire year, there is water in the riverbed of Perennial rivers. In contrast, the Non-perennial rivers do not flow for at least a portion of the year.

Examples of Perennial and Non-Perennial Rivers
Streams or rivers that continuously flow across their riverbed for an entire year are known as perennial rivers. Water is present in their riverbed throughout the year. Perennial rivers are fed by both snowmelt and precipitation. They are fed by the melting of snow by glaciers and receive rainwater during the rainy season.
Examples of Perennial Rivers are the Brahmaputra, Ganges, Indus, etc.
Non-perennial rivers are those rivers that do not flow continuously year-round. They don’t flow for at least a part of the year.
- In the dry season, they have very little water.
- The flood water is wasted and flows away to the sea in the rainy season.
Examples of Non-Perennial Rivers are the Pennar river, Mahanadi, Krishna river, Narmada river, etc.
